Community Orchard
Work Parties

Winter 2024 dates: 18 February, 17 March. â€‹10am-12pm.

Regular monthly work parties in the Community Orchard, every third Sunday of the month, 10am-12pm, started in September 2023. No need to sign up - just drop in on the day. We'll be doing some essential work to make sure the fruit trees and bushes are ready for autumn & winter - so that we have more fruit to harvest next year! The sessions will have a lead facilitator who will have a list of tasks. All levels welcome, from novice to expert - it's a great chance to learn new skills as well as share some expertise.

What to bring: sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, some snacks and water, and a pair of gardening gloves if you've got one. We'll provide some tea at the end of the session.

How to get there: The orchard is right next to the Cutteslowe allotments, down an unpaved track. Please note there are no facilities on site, the nearest toilets are by the San Remo cafe.

Email us with any questions or to be added to the volunteers' Whatsapp group: cutteslowe.nwc@gmail.com.

Winter 2024 dates: 14 January, 11 February, 10 March.

Monthly walks in Cutteslowe Park. Join local bird expert Nick for a gentle walk around the park and learn how to spot birds and wildlife in the area.

How to get there: Drop in - meet by the San Remo Cafe at 10am. The walk will take about an hour.

What to bring: Wear weather-appropriate clothes and bring a snack and a hot drink if you’d like (or buy one from the cafe).

Email us at cutteslowe.nwc@gmail.com if you'd like to lead a similar walk or activity in the future - we're always looking for more local nature experts.

Community Cooking in the Pavilion

Winter 2024 dates: 28 January, 25 February, 24 March, 1-3pm.

Once a month, we cook up a feast using surplus food from local gardens and allotments and the Oxford Food Hub. We serve a hot meal on a 'pay as you feel' basis and create a space for people to meet each other, socialise, and take part in nature-inspired art activities.

In collaboration with the Oxford Food Surplus Cafe.

Join our cooking and set-up crew: we are always looking for more people to join our team of volunteers. No previous experience necessary - just a willingness to learn about cooking with surplus food for a large number of people. Sign up here.

How to get there: The pavilion is located by the San Remo cafe, in Cutteslowe Park.
